Blue Jug Whole House System

$1084.74

This unit filters all incoming water and must be installed by a plumber on the main supply line to the house. It should be installed in a sheltered location, like a garage, to protect it from freezing in winter. The unit has 1” connectors to ensure minimal loss of water pressure through the filtration process. This filter performs the following 3 stages of filtration: #1: Sediment. Pleated fabric cartridge that removes dirt, debris and solid particulates #2: 5 micron Carbon/KDF filter. Removes all particles >5 microns. KDF removes lead, mercury, iron (heavy metals) and hydrogen sulfide. Carbon/KDF removes organics, pesticides (roundup), herbicides and most of the chlorine and fluoride. #3: 1 micron Coconut/Carbon filter. Removes all molecules > 1 micron. These include almost all compounds (like pharmaceuticals), bacteria, mold and large individual atoms. This filter produces reasonably clean water. It does leave about 15% of the chlorine in the water, as this is needed to ensure house pipes remain free from bacteria during periods when house is empty. It also leaves about 25% of the fluoride (which is the hardest toxin to remove from water), along with molecules <1 micron in size. The resulting filtered water is excellent for cleaning, showering, washing and bathing. It is also acceptable for drinking and cooking, although purified and re-mineralized water is a better choice. Maintenance: This filter is low maintenance, with just the following requirements for the average household: Remove and clean (rinse) the sediment (#1) cartridge after 6 months. Replace all three filters after 1 year. Replacement filters are available at Blue Jug stores.
